Sharing the love this Valentine’s Day by Nicola Moore-Miller

Valentine’s Day can be a divisive ‘special day’ with the commercialised aspect being a bone of contention. Love isn’t always chocolates, flowers, jewellery, soft toys and cards. The business world takes advantage of the emotions surrounding Valentine’s as a way of cashing in. And, lots of us fall into the cunning trap.

From my viewpoint, I believe that love takes many forms and doesn’t necessarily involve romantic partners. There are lots of people who don’t send or receive gifts on Valentine’s Day because they’re not in a close relationship of this nature. While the romantic element of Valentine’s is lovely, it’s not for everyone, as it totally depends upon each person’s unique circumstances.

My stance on Valentine’s is that it’s an occasion to demonstrate appreciation and affection for the important people in your life, be they friends, colleagues, employers, employees, clients, family, the barista who serves your morning coffee, whomever. Each of these people are valued connections and touch our lives in a special way daily.

So, today, I’m taking stock and making time to show the people in my life how much I love them. This begins with Jayva. I’ve sent a little gift to our team, this being boxes containing chocolates, sweets, rose petals, a rose quartz and heartfelt messages of thanks for everything they’ve done and continue to do for our company. As a close network of individuals who care deeply for one another, my gift was an opportunity to express gratitude on this most notable of days.

When the stresses and strains of life and work get in the way, it’s not always easy to stop and say ‘I love you, I appreciate you, I thank you’. Valentine’s Day provides a moment to do so.

Coming back to the rose quartz element, there was a reason for adding this healing crystal to my gift packs. It’s a stone which symbolises unconditional love and is thought to encourage compassion, restore peace, inspire calm and foster inner healing. In the past year, I’ve hardly spoken to a single person who isn’t dealing with a personal trauma or major life issue, whether it’s related to relationship breakdown, finance, grief, illness, whatever. We don’t always know what each other is facing. The relevance of the rose quartz for me, then, is to promote wellbeing within Jayva.

I’m sharing the love this Valentine’s Day to do exactly that – wish health and happiness, and express gratefulness – essentially sending healing messages across the Jayva ecosystem. It’s what today was made for.
